Dubai, The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 has set a new record for being the most attended ICC event in history, with a staggering 1,250,307 fans attending matches, culminating in Australia’s sixth title win.
According to International Cricket Council, this year’s event, which took place from October 5 to November 19, surpassed previous attendance records, including the one million spectator mark reached with six games remaining. The tournament’s finale was held at the packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Highlights of the event included record attendances for the opening match between England and New Zealand and the India vs. Pakistan game, which became the most attended fixture in ICC World Cup history. These numbers exceeded past attendance figures, such as the 1,016,420 spectators in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and the 752,000 fans in the 2019 edition in England and Wales.
The 13th edition of the Men’s Cricket World Cup in India not only set new benchmarks in attendance but also broke multiple broadcast and digital viewership records, highlighting cricket’s expanding global popularity.
