Bahawalpur, September 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Cotton field day was organized by Pakistan Kisan Ithad (PKI) at Pul Rangoo, Khanewal, where cotton variety IUB 222 grown in first week of April was demonstrated. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Bandesha briefed about IUB 222 to chief guest Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, Provincial Minster of Punjab for Agriculture, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Asif Ali Vice Chancellor MNSAU Multan, Asif Majeed, president Evyol group and Khalid Mahmood Khokar, President PKI and other members of PKI.
The dignities and growers praised the IUB-222 for its resistance to Cotton leaf Curl Virus (CLCuV) and bollworms, the crop stand was very good which showed its climatic resilient. This variety has performed well under worst climate change of this year. Minister Agriculture appreciated the research efforts and dedication for Cotton R and D in IUB. The Honourable Minister and participants acknowledged the performance of Cotton variety IUB 222 and leadership of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor IUB for patronage of agriculture research and hoped this variety will play a key role in cotton revival in Pakistan.
