Gul Bano’s New Book “Nawisht-e-Gul” Launched at Arts Council Karachi

Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted the launch of renowned novelist and broadcaster Gul Bano’s new book, “Nawisht-e-Gul,” at the Haseena Moin Hall. The event was presided over by Dr. Iqbal Mohsin, with Ehtesham Arshad Nezami serving as the chief guest.

According to a statement by Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the launch featured speeches from notable literary figures such as Akhlaq Ahmed, Iqbal A. Rehman, Tabish Qureshi, and Syed Masroor Ali. They shared insights on the book’s themes and the author’s approach to storytelling. The event was moderated by Hamid Islam Khan and began with a recitation of the Quran by Hamid Mahmood Hussaini, followed by a Naat presented by Waqas Qureshi.

Dr. Iqbal Mohsin described “Nawisht-e-Gul” as a heartfelt expression by Gul Bano, addressing themes like childhood and climate change. He commended the realistic nature of her writing. Iqbal A. Rehman highlighted the book’s capacity to offer new perspectives, particularly through its exploration of societal issues and emotions of motherhood.

Akhlaq Ahmad initially perceived the book as fiction but later recognized it as a collection of writings, including travelogues and essays. He praised the depiction of Jacobabad within the book. Ehtesham Arshad Nezami likened the creation of a book to raising a child, appreciating the educational and research-rich nature of Gul Bano’s work.

Gul Bano shared that her children’s love has been a driving force in her journey, and she reflected on the origins of her writings, now compiled in the book. Shakeel Khan, Admin Director of the Arts Council, lauded her efforts in promoting arts appreciation.

The event concluded with Taabeer Aghai expressing gratitude to the contributors and attendees, acknowledging their role in the success of the book launch.
