Karachi, Dow University of Health Sciences has achieved a significant breakthrough by introducing the first-ever bionic arm in Pakistan, aimed at providing affordable artificial limbs to the underprivileged and middle-class sectors of society. This development marks a notable advancement in the field of prosthetics in the country.
According to Dow University of Health Sciences, the inauguration of the Dow Unit for Artificial Limb (DWOL) was celebrated at the Ojha Campus. The event, which featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, was attended by various dignitaries including Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Saeed Qureshi, Director of DOL Farhan Ishaq, and additional faculty members.
Vice Chancellor Prof Qureshi highlighted Dow University’s ongoing commitment to providing diagnostic and treatment services at discounted rates for the poor and middle-class communities. The introduction of the bionic arm is a continuation of this mission, offering prosthetic limbs to individuals who have lost their arms due to neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, or other reasons.
Dr. Usaf Ahmed, the focal person of Duval, emphasized that the bionic arm represents a first in Pakistan’s medical technology. The arm is designed to perform all the functions of a real arm, including delicate tasks such as threading a needle, demonstrating its advanced capabilities and sensitivity.
This innovation by Dow University is expected to make a significant impact on the lives of those who have lost limbs, offering them a sophisticated and functional solution to aid in their daily activities.
Turbat, The University of Turbat has published its second merit list for undergraduate program admissions for the spring 2024 semester. The list is now accessible on the university’s official website.
According to University of Turbat, successful candidates are advised to visit the Jamia Turbat Admission Seal Main Campus to verify all their original documents and educational credentials. Following the verification process, candidates are required to collect and deposit the admission fee at Habib Bank. They must then submit the copy of the fee challan to the admission cell to confirm their admission. The deadline for fee submission is set for 12th January 2024, and failure to meet this deadline will result in the cancellation of admission.
The University also notes that candidates who did not qualify in the merit list for their first-choice program may be offered admission to other relevant BS programs. Additionally, candidates can download their admission offer and fee details from the university’s website, with the option to pay fees in two equal installments.
