Karachi: Spokesman for Bilawal House, Surendar Valasai, has strongly criticized the reported demolition of mosques and other Islamic religious structures in India’s border areas near Pakistan, labeling the actions as severe violations of religious freedom and human dignity. He urged international bodies to intervene and called for an end to these practices.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Valasai expressed his concerns over the demolitions, attributing them to policies that marginalize religious minorities in India. He highlighted that such actions undermine India’s moral authority and democratic values, particularly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has faced criticism for his past actions in the 2002 Gujarat carnage.
Valasai emphasized that the destruction of mosques goes beyond physical structures, affecting faith, identity, and historical continuity. He noted that the persistent issues faced by the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) further illustrate the need for justice and human rights to achieve peace in South Asia.
He cautioned that policies rooted in religious majoritarianism endanger both India’s internal cohesion and regional stability. Valasai reaffirmed the commitment of the Pakistan Peoples Party to uphold democracy, pluralism, and the rights of oppressed communities. He called on the Indian government to cease the demolitions and adhere to constitutional and international human rights standards.
Valasai also appealed to the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other international entities to address these actions and protect religious minorities and their sacred sites. He concluded by stressing the importance of global intervention to prevent further erosion of religious freedoms.
