Tharparkar: The voter registration rate in Tharparkar stands at 42 percent of its estimated 2025 population, falling short of the national average of 54 percent. According to district-wise electoral roll statistics released by the Election Commission of Pakistan, Tharparkar's registration figures are drawn from population estimates based on the 2023 Digital Census.
The district, with an estimated population of 1,824,586 in 2025, has 765,492 registered voters. This includes 414,895 males, representing 54.2 percent of the registered voters, and 350,597 females, making up 45.8 percent. The data highlights a gender gap in voter registration, with only 40 percent of the female population registered compared to 44 percent of males.
Tharparkar is ranked 54th out of 136 districts nationally by population size and is represented by two Members of the National Assembly. However, it ranks 110th in voter registration rate nationally and 27th out of 30 within Sindh.
The lower registration rate is attributed to the census enumeration practices in rural Sindh, where in-migrants from nearby areas are counted in Tharparkar's population but remain registered to vote in their original localities. This discrepancy inflates the population denominator without a corresponding increase in voter registration. The gender gap in registration persists, with targeted outreach for female voters suggested as a priority before the next general elections.
