Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has partnered with the Olympia Welfare Foundation to provide comprehensive scholarships to financially disadvantaged students in a strategic effort to promote educational excellence and socio-economic development. The initiative, announced in a memorandum of understanding signed by Mr. Muhammad Shakil Monnoo, CEO of Olympia Welfare Foundation, and Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, will offer significant financial aid to students pursuing computer science and engineering degrees.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the four-year partnership will establish the "Monnoo Scholarship," benefiting eight undergraduate students each academic year. The scholarship covers tuition, books, living expenses, and a student stipend for the full duration of the degree program, up to eight semesters. The selection process prioritizes students from the Olympia Model School in District Khushab, children of Olympia Group employees, and residents of Tehsil Quaidabad, with additional provisions for students from remote and underprivileged areas based on need and merit.
Recipients must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.3 to retain the scholarship. The partnership includes an employment component, facilitating the sharing of graduating students' profiles with the Olympia Welfare Foundation for potential employment opportunities. Mr. Muhammad Shakil Monnoo emphasized the partnership's commitment to community development through education, while Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir highlighted its alignment with UET's mission to contribute to socio-economic growth and create opportunities for skilled professionals.
