LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali highlighted the need for coordinated global efforts to tackle climate change, health issues, and gender inequality. Speaking at an international conference titled “Lifestyle Challenges for Health, Gender and Climate Sustainability,” organized by Punjab University’s Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, Prof. Dr. Ali emphasized the significance of interdisciplinary cooperation. The event was held in collaboration with the World University Association for Community Development, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Sumatra Utara Indonesia, and the Sustainable Social Development Organization Pakistan.
According to the University of the Punjab, the conference gathered experts, policymakers, and students from various countries to discuss global challenges related to health, gender equality, climate change, and sustainable development. Prof. Dr. Ali described the conference as an essential platform for fostering international academic cooperation. Dean Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Airlangga Dr. Muhammad Muttaqien, WUACD representative Prof. Dr. Muhammad Azizur Rahman, and other notable speakers participated in the event. Uzma Kardar, MPA, assured attendees of the government’s commitment to addressing environmental issues through sustainable solutions.
Prof. Dr. Farhan Naveed Yousaf, Director of ISCS, underscored the necessity of joint research-based strategies to address global challenges. The conference featured sessions where researchers presented papers on topics such as climate resilience, environmental justice, mental health, and technological innovation. Participants called for international cooperation, inclusive policymaking, and the integration of local and traditional knowledge into development frameworks to achieve sustainable progress.
