Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has implemented precautionary measures following the sighting of a leopard near its H-10 New Campus. The university assured students, faculty, staff, residents, and visitors that it is closely monitoring the situation and prioritizing community safety.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the sighting was reported to the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), the authority responsible for wildlife management in the region. IIUI is supporting IWMB in its operational response, though all wildlife management measures remain within IWMB’s jurisdiction.
Based on IWMB’s guidance, the university has advised against unnecessary outdoor activities, particularly during late evening and early morning hours. Access to certain areas of the campus, including wooded or sparsely populated zones, is restricted. Campus routes may also be regulated, and the community is expected to comply with these arrangements to facilitate IWMB’s monitoring and response efforts.
Hostel administrations have been instructed to communicate these measures effectively and ensure their implementation without causing alarm. IIUI emphasizes that these steps are preventive, aiming to protect the campus community while allowing IWMB to fulfill its responsibilities.
The university remains committed to safety, transparent communication, and ongoing coordination with relevant authorities. Updates will be provided through official channels.
