Bhutto Transfers Flood House Ownership To Women In Sindh

Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while visiting newly built and under-construction homes for flood survivors in Rahooja village, Larkana district, declared that transferring home ownership to women embodies Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s vision of female empowerment. He emphasized that these residences are not just shelters, but assets that will bolster the women’s financial stability.

Accompanied by PPP Women Wing Central President Faryal Talpur and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Zardari distributed ownership documents to the recipients. He congratulated the women and their families, stating that the government had delivered on its housing promise. He assured them, “These are valuable possessions that will appreciate over time. Protect them; they are yours to keep.”

Zardari affirmed the PPP’s dedication to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s mission of providing “Roti, Kapra Aur Makan” (food, clothing, and shelter). Granting ownership to women, he explained, empowers them financially.

He lauded the Sindh government’s endeavor to build 2.1 million homes for flood-affected people. He mentioned the provincial administration’s efforts to equip these homes with solar power and ensure sanitation.

Zardari engaged with Rahooja villagers, discussing housing progress, financial circumstances, and children’s education. Representatives from the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) and the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) briefed him. Of the 122,000 homes planned for Larkana district, construction on 90,000 has begun. Thousands of solar kits have been distributed to eligible families, including flood victims, based on the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) survey.

Zardari’s Political Secretary and MPA Jameel Ahmed Soomro, assembly members, local officials, party representatives, and supporters were also in attendance.
