IIUI Celebrates 78th Independence Day With Focus On Youth’s Role In Emerging Pakistan

Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) commemorated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony and a seminar highlighting the youth’s contribution to the nation’s future as a global power. The Friday event, held at the Faisal Masjid Campus, was a collaborative effort by the Islamic Research Institute (IRI), Paigham-e-Pakistan Centre for Peace, Reconciliation and Reconstruction Studies, the Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative, and the Directorate of Student Affairs.

The celebration began with the raising of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, served as the chief guest. Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, also attended and opened a book exhibition at the IRI library showcasing Pakistan’s ideology, heritage, and civilization. IIUI Vice President (A and F), Prof. Abdul Raheman, along with numerous pupils, faculty, and dignitaries, were also present.

Pupils from IIUI Schools and university undergraduates presented patriotic melodies and anthems, fostering a sense of national unity and pride. The IIUI security contingent presented a formal salute to the flag, symbolizing the nation’s sacrifices and aspirations. A subsequent seminar featured a keynote address by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, who stressed the crucial part young people play in guiding Pakistan toward advancement, stability, and international recognition. He highlighted elements vital for growth, such as tranquility, political constancy, policy continuity, and modernization through reforms.

Seminar participants acknowledged the nation’s current difficulties, emphasizing that observing Independence Day amidst these trials demonstrates Pakistan’s strength and its narrative of survival and resurgence. They noted that the day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the people, both past and present, for the nation’s prosperity and independence.
