Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari extended greetings to Pakistanis worldwide on the 79th Independence Day, emphasizing the dual nature of independence as both an achievement and a responsibility.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the president paid tribute to the founders of Pakistan, including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and highlighted the importance of remembering their sacrifices. He urged that each generation must continue to strengthen the nation through their contributions. The president cited the recent Marka-e-Haq events as a testament to Pakistan's resolve and capacity to defend its sovereignty, while also underscoring the need for peace and conflict prevention.

President Zardari acknowledged the sacrifices made by the armed forces and law enforcement personnel, emphasizing their role in maintaining national security against external threats and terrorism. He highlighted Pakistan's efforts in regional dialogue facilitation and the importance of addressing disputes through diplomacy to ensure regional stability.
