Student Volunteers Forge Connections at Imagining Futures Conference

KARACHI: Volunteering at the Imagining Futures Conference 2025 provided students with a unique opportunity to engage deeply with pressing global issues, turning a simple extracurricular activity into a transformative educational experience. The conference, held at Habib University, allowed volunteers to work closely with prominent figures in fields such as law and human rights, offering insights into real-world applications of their academic studies.

One such volunteer shared how their role evolved from managing logistics to actively participating in meaningful conversations. A significant moment occurred during a roundtable on Pakistani Law and Human Rights, featuring Rabiya Javeria, Chairperson of the National Commission of Human Rights, and Amna Baig, Superintendent of Police. The session was described as riveting, providing an unexpected platform for the student to engage directly with influential speakers.

In addition to the conference, a Policy Hackathon challenged students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world problems. The experience underscored the practical utility of their studies, as volunteers discovered they could offer valuable insights to participants. This realization highlighted the tangible impact of their education beyond traditional classroom settings.

The conference also served as a lens for students to envision the type of impact they aspire to make in their future careers. It emphasized learning as a dynamic process that extends beyond academic environments, encouraging students to engage with the communities and causes that resonate with them.

Overall, the Imagining Futures Conference 2025 not only enriched the student volunteers’ educational journey but also fostered a sense of community and purpose as they embark on future endeavors.
