Habib University Celebrates Class of 2025 and Philanthropy Efforts

Karachi: Habib University launched its Commencement Week on May 27, 2025, with an event titled “Shaping Futures, Reshaping Philanthropy,” celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025 and acknowledging the Mohsineen, a group of donors supporting education at the university. The event highlighted the university’s commitment to making higher education a collaborative societal goal.

The evening commenced with a presentation called “The Last Generation with a Choice,” combining video and live storytelling to address critical global issues like climate change and authoritarianism. The segment concluded by showcasing alumni and students whose work embodies action rooted in values.

Notable alumni featured included Amal Hashim, whose research focuses on Sindh’s marine heritage, and Osama Rizwan, who discussed renewable energy in Karachi. Shagufta Karim, a graduating student, presented her film project on ecological issues in Pakistan.

A significant part of the event was a discussion with Arif Habib, Chairman of the Arif Habib Group, and graduating students Munaza Fatima and Syed Muhammad Ali Naqvi. Their conversation emphasized personal growth and the future of education in Pakistan, highlighting Mr. Habib’s commitment to the university.

President Wasif A. Rizvi congratulated the graduating class and reiterated the university’s mission to offer globally competitive education rooted in local context. He noted that 83% of the Class of 2025 benefited from financial assistance, made possible by the Mohsineen community.

The event was attended by key members of the Mohsineen community and leaders from Pakistan’s business sector, reinforcing a shared commitment to reshaping philanthropy and investing in education. As the Class of 2025 graduates, they are equipped with a values-driven education and the support of a community invested in a better future.
