Ahmed Imtiaz’s Poetry Collection Launched Amid Literary Applause

Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi organized the launch of Ahmed Imtiaz’s poetry collection “Waham o Gumaan Hone Se Pehle” at the Haseena Moin Hall. The event, chaired by Abbas Rizvi and featuring poetess Shahida Hasan as the chief guest, was attended by notable speakers including Nasir Shamsi, Zahid Hussain Johri, Ahmed Shakeel, and Rukhsana Saba. The proceedings were moderated by Shahabuddin Shahab.

According to a statement by Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Abbas Rizvi lauded the collection, expressing joy in seeing Imtiaz’s verses in print. Rizvi drew parallels between Imtiaz and literary legends like Mirza Ghalib and Jigar Moradabadi, emphasizing Imtiaz’s significant role in the poetic tradition of expressing personal pain.

Chief guest Shahida Hassan described Imtiaz as a sensitive poet, whose work is a reflection of life’s challenges and emotional depth. She highlighted the conversational nature of his poetry, which resonates with readers through its exploration of sadness and solitude without succumbing to despair.

Rukhsana Saba praised Imtiaz’s contribution to Urdu literature, noting the emotional impact of his work, which delves into themes of human suffering, love, and relationships. She commended his unique presentation of self and universe.

Ahmed Shakeel acknowledged Imtiaz’s focus on sorrow, while Zahid Hussain Johri likened the book to a structure that gains life through reader engagement. Nasir Shamsi pointed out the psychological depth in Imtiaz’s poetry, setting it apart from others.

Speaking at the event, Ahmed Imtiaz shared his humble beginnings and the unexpected journey of becoming a poet. Reflecting on his past, he mentioned the influence of his love for reading and the tumultuous times of the partition era on his poetic inclination.
