Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, organized a book launch ceremony for Dr. Maqbool A. Halepota’s work, “Sindhis in Global Context Past, Present, Future, and Origins (2600 BCE to…),” at the Haseena Moin Hall. The event was attended by notable speakers who discussed the significance of Sindh’s history and culture.
According to a statement by Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, speakers including Naseer Memon, Ayub Shaikh, Masood Noorani, Khalid Junejo, and Shazia Nizamani shared their insights during the ceremony. Naseer Memon highlighted the importance of understanding history to grasp the experiences of marginalized nations. He remarked that Sindh serves as a gateway to humanity, emphasizing the need for education and institutional improvement in the region.
Masood Noorani described the book as a valuable portrayal of Sindh’s civilization, stressing that the work is not about political affiliations but about the collective identity of all Sindh residents. He called for a unified representation of the province’s diverse population.
Khalid Junejo pointed out the prevalent practice in Pakistan of documenting history from the viewpoint of rulers, contrasting it with figures like G.M. Syed, who focused on the people’s perspective.
Dr. Maqbool A. Halepota expressed gratitude to the Arts Council and Ahmed Shah for organizing the event. He shared his dedication to exploring the culture, language, and heritage of Sindh over the past 12 years, aiming to introduce and celebrate the province’s rich history to all its residents.
