Sindh University Art Exhibition Showcases Student Innovation and Research Commitment

Jamshoro: The University of Sindh’s Institute of Art and Design hosted a notable art exhibition at the Benazir Art Gallery, drawing attention with its array of student-created paintings and photographs. The event, attended by prominent figures including the university’s Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Commissioner of Jamshoro, highlighted the students’ creativity and the institute’s dedication to fostering research and innovation.

According to University of Sindh, the exhibition was graced by Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro and Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Riaz Hussain Wassan, both of whom expressed admiration for the students’ work and the educational environment that supported their creative endeavors. Professor Saeed Ahmed Mangi, the Director of the Institute, provided an insightful briefing on the creative processes that shaped the works on display.

The Vice-Chancellor announced new initiatives aimed at enhancing student support and infrastructure, including additional scholarships and improvements to the gallery’s facilities. He also discussed the university’s sustainability efforts, specifically a solarization project expected to significantly reduce energy costs and dependency within the next year.

Deputy Commissioner Wassan shared his enthusiasm for education and his ongoing efforts to integrate industry-academia linkages to foster economic growth and innovation in Sindh. He emphasized the importance of expanding the academic focus beyond traditional job-oriented degrees, encouraging students to engage in fields like cyberspace and technology to put their marks on global platforms.

Furthermore, Wassan called for more emphasis on practical research that addresses local and national issues, advocating for an educational shift towards producing researchers and innovators rather than just civil servants. He also pledged a donation of 1,000 trees for a campus-wide Plantation Drive, underlining the environmental responsibilities of educational institutions.

The exhibition concluded with a ceremony where certificates were distributed to the participating students and a symbolic tree-planting event, underscoring the university’s commitment to both educational and ecological growth.
