Karachi: In a bid to ensure the integrity of the upcoming Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Sindh, Prof. Nazli Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Focal Person for MDCAT at Dow University, outlined a series of rigorous security measures. These steps are taken in compliance with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) directives to prevent any unauthorized access and potential leaks of examination materials.
According to Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof. Hossain detailed these protocols during a press briefing at the A.Q Khan Auditorium, DIMC-DUHS. The briefing highlighted extensive preparations, including the use of modern technology and stringent access controls at test centers. More than 38,000 students are expected to participate in the MDCAT across various locations in Sindh, including Karachi, on September 22.
The MDCAT will be hosted at two main centers in Karachi—NED University and the Cricket Ground at Dow University’s Ojha Campus—and other locations such as the Liaquat University of Medical and Science in Jamshoro, and the Bilawal Sports Complex at Shaheed Benazirabad. Prof. Hossain emphasized that every examination center will be equipped with closed-circuit cameras, and separate entry points for male and female students have been established to streamline the process and enhance security.
Further security measures include a three-stage body search of candidates, utilizing metal detectors and personnel that include women police officers. In addition, medical teams and ambulance services will be stationed at each center to handle any emergencies, ensuring a comprehensive approach to both security and candidate welfare.
Prof. Hossain also urged students and parents to disregard any rumors about paper leaks, reaffirming that all necessary precautions are in place. The answer keys will be available on the university’s website shortly after the exams conclude, as confirmed by Dr. Fuad Sheikh, Controller of Examination at Dow University.
