Ashra Muharram Congregations in Islamabad Reflect on Imam Hussain’s Legacy

Islamabad: The Jamia Al-Murtaza Central Imambargah in Islamabad was the venue for a profound series of Ashra Muharram congregations on Thursday, organized by Umm Al-Binin WF Girls’ Guide, Sakina Generation, and Anjuman Dukhtaran Islam. The gatherings, which are part of the annual commemoration of Muharram, focused on the enduring spiritual and moral lessons from the life of Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, the highlight of the congregations was an address by Sayeda Obaidah Al-Zahra Mousavi, Advocate and Gold Medalist from International Islamic University. She eloquently discussed the significant historical moment when Imam Hussain (AS) recited the Holy Qur’an on the tip of a spear, symbolizing his commitment to uphold the teachings and sanctity of the Qur’an in the face of tyranny. Mousavi emphasized the purity of intention and the importance of practical commitment to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family as essential for spiritual cleanliness and moral integrity.

The event also featured speeches by other notable scholars, including Professor Anjum Nighat Zaidi and Zakira Tahira Bilqis Bukhari, who shared insights on the theological and ethical dimensions of Imam Hussain’s stand against the corrupt leadership of Yazid. The congregations concluded with a symbolic mourning procession for Prince Aoun and Muhammad, reaffirming the community’s reverence for their sacrifices.

The gatherings underscored the broader message of Muharram: the triumph of truth and justice over falsehood and oppression, a theme that resonates deeply within the Islamic world and beyond.
