Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui Faces Delay During Prison Visit to Sister Aafia Siddiqui

Karachi, Texas, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui experienced an unexpected delay while visiting her sister, Aafia Siddiqui, at FMC Carswell prison for the second consecutive day. As per a statement from the Aafia Movement, the visit was conducted through a glass wall as per the prison’s regulations, but post-meeting procedures led to Dr. Fowzia being held in the meeting room for over an hour without explanation.

According to Aafia Movement, after the meeting concluded, while Aafia Siddiqui was escorted away, Dr. Fowzia was inexplicably detained in the room, devoid of her personal belongings including her mobile phone, tissues, and water. Clive Stafford Smith, Aafia Siddiqui’s American lawyer, expressed his frustration over the incident on social media, noting the lack of communication and apparent oversight by prison staff as contributing to the ordeal.

The spokesman for the Aafia Movement, Muhammad Ayub, highlighted the difficulties encountered during the visit, suggesting that these obstructions reflect broader issues with the conditions under which Aafia Siddiqui is detained. Dr. Fowzia plans to return home next week and will disclose further details about her visit and the future actions of the Aafia Movement. Despite the challenging circumstances, she remains hopeful due to the support and prayers from their community.
