Altaf Shakoor Calls for Urgent Urban Development and Improved Infrastructure in Karachi

Karachi, Despite the establishment of a city government, Karachi continues to face significant challenges in urban infrastructure development, with insufficient efforts to address issues such as water scarcity, power outages, and inadequate public transport, expressed Pasban Democratic Party Chairman Altaf Shakoor.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Altaf Shakoor highlighted the lack of progress in projects like the Karachi Circular Railway and the Green Line’s second phase. He criticized the current state of governance by both the PPP and MQM, accusing them of neglecting the city’s needs despite their roles in government.

Shakoor also touched on the broader national issue of educational inadequacies, referencing the recent tragedy involving Pakistani students in Bishkek to underline the urgent need for more medical colleges across Pakistan, including at the town level in Karachi. Additionally, he addressed the severe load shedding in Karachi, describing the local power supplier, KE, as detrimental to the city’s welfare. To combat this, he proposed the introduction of interest-free loans for low-income households to purchase solar panels for energy self-sufficiency.

He concluded by demanding the creation of an independent board to oversee Karachi’s development, suggesting it include representatives from all political factions within the city to ensure comprehensive and inclusive planning.
