Lahore, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, has asserted that there is no need for new elections in light of issues with Form 45, advocating instead for the formation of a judicial commission, restoration of the public mandate, and release of all political prisoners. In a press conference held in Mansurah, he voiced strong opposition to various governmental actions and policies, highlighting the need for systemic changes across multiple sectors.
According to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Rehman criticized the ongoing privatization of education in Punjab, stating that basic services like education and health should not be denied to citizens and are a constitutional responsibility of the state. He lamented the deteriorating condition of public schools in Sindh and condemned the governance issues plaguing the province. Additionally, he addressed the broader political landscape, including the suppression of information related to the “Dubai leaks” and called for transparency from those implicated.
Rehman also touched upon international issues, stressing Pakistan’s role in supporting Palestine and recognizing Hamas as a legitimate representative organization of the Palestinian people. Domestically, he highlighted the economic pressures faced by ordinary Pakistanis, criticizing proposed new taxes and the influence of the IMF on Pakistan’s economic policies. He denounced the government’s luxury expenditures amid widespread economic difficulties and called for a review of contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) that he claimed benefit the ruling elite at the expense of the populace.
The press conference underscored Jamaat-e-Islami’s commitment to fighting for the rights of the nation and preparing for mass mobilization against what Rehman described as a corrupt system.
