Karachi, Pasban Democratic Party Chairman Altaf Shakoor advocated for a merit-based free education system in Pakistan to prevent students from incurring high costs abroad, particularly in unsafe regions. He emphasized the need for increased medical college seats and called for legal action against the government of Kyrgyzstan for its failure to protect Pakistani students.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Shakoor highlighted the substantial expenses faced by Pakistani students pursuing medical education in China and Central Asia due to the high costs and limited seats in Pakistani medical colleges. He proposed doubling the medical seats in Pakistan, accommodating Pakistani students in government medical universities, and ensuring their safety through immediate government intervention. Shakoor criticized the government’s lackluster response to the situation of Pakistani students in Kyrgyzstan, urging immediate action to address the ongoing crisis and mental strain on students and their families.
The Pasban Democratic Party chairman also proposed a modular medical education system to reduce costs and increase accessibility for Pakistani students, thereby addressing the domestic shortage of medical and paramedical staff. He called for transparency in the government’s narrative on the issue and the immediate deployment of a fact-finding mission to fully assess and report on the situation.
