Asia Journalism Fellowship 2024 Opens Applications for Emerging Leaders

Singapore, The Asia Journalism Fellowship (AJF) Programme, a collaborative effort between the Temasek Foundation and the Institute of Policy Studies at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, is now inviting applications for its 2024 session. Since its inception in 2009, AJF has hosted 205 journalists from across Asia, offering them a comprehensive platform for professional development.

According to Pak NGOs, the fellowship aims to enhance the capabilities of journalists through workshops, seminars, visits, and briefings. It provides a blend of theoretical and practical learning experiences, covering topics such as social media integration, narrative journalism, and the challenges of fake news. The program not only aims to strengthen professional skills but also to foster a deeper understanding of Singapore through direct engagement with its leaders and institutions.

Fellows will benefit from a stipend, funded travel expenses, and accommodation in serviced apartments to encourage a focus on learning and collaboration without financial burden. Additionally, access to NUS libraries’ e-resources and other facilities is included, alongside a community-driven approach that encourages knowledge sharing and collective growth.

Eligibility for the fellowship is broad, targeting journalists with at least five years of experience, proficiency in English, and a commitment to participating fully in the eight-week program, which includes both virtual and in-person components in Singapore. The selection process emphasizes diversity and impact, seeking applicants who demonstrate potential for leadership and a commitment to excellence in journalism.

Applications for this competitive fellowship are open until April 16, 2024, with further details and the application process available on the AJF website.
