Global Filmmakers Invited to Illuminate Narratives for Project Spark

Islamabad, Project Spark has launched its latest global initiative, inviting filmmakers worldwide to explore the theme ‘Shining Through’ in an evocative call for submissions that aims to harness the power of light and storytelling.

According to Pak NGOs, the project, orchestrated by NANLITE and NANLUX both brands under Nanguang seeks to empower a new wave of creative talent by providing a platform and substantial resources to bring their visions to life. This year’s theme, ‘Shining Through,’ encourages participants to delve into the nuances of light as both a literal and metaphorical element, exploring its capacity to connect humans, convey dreams, preserve memories, and transcend spatial and temporal boundaries.

Under the initiative, four finalist teams in the Global section will each secure a production budget of USD 15,000 alongside an additional USD 5,000 for equipment rental to actualize their short film or experimental projects. The contest timeline spans from February 28, 2024, to January 18, 2025, setting the stage for an extensive period of creative development and production.

Project Spark stipulates that submissions must be original works that have not been previously presented or associated with other events. Furthermore, no filming or external funding should precede the application to ensure the freshness and authenticity of the proposed projects. Open to global creators without restrictions on age, country, or region, the contest aspires to a diverse array of narratives, with anticipated project durations ranging from 3 to 20 minutes.
