Rawalpindi, During the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 match between Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings on March 6 at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Quetta Gladiators’ spinner Usman Tariq was reported for a suspect bowling action, casting a shadow on his future participation in the tournament.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, despite being reported, Usman Tariq remains eligible to participate in the upcoming games. However, should he be reported again while playing, he will face suspension from bowling in the league until he successfully clears a bowling action test. In response to the situation, the Quetta Gladiators’ management has proactively requested the PCB to arrange for Usman to undergo the necessary evaluation at a PCB-approved testing facility.
This incident places Tariq in a precarious position, with the potential to affect both his and the team’s performance in the ongoing PSL season. The PCB’s regulations on suspect bowling actions are designed to ensure fair play and integrity within the game, mandating rigorous assessments for players whose bowling actions come under scrutiny.
