PCB Chairman Meets HBL PSL 9 Players, Emphasizes Unity and MeritZone-II Whites Secure Spot in Karachi Senior Inter-District Cricket Semi-Finals

Islamabad, In a recent gathering in Islamabad, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi met with players participating in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9. The meeting, held at a local hotel, served as an opportunity for the chairman to commend the players for their national representation and to discuss the PCB’s vision for the future of Pakistani cricket. PCB COO Salman Naseer, Chief Selector Wahab Riaz, and other officials were also present during the meeting.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the chairman’s address to the players highlighted the importance of unity and merit within the team. Naqvi stressed the PCB’s commitment to fostering a work environment where high performers and quality players are recognized and given ample opportunities. He urged the players to adopt a fighting spirit regardless of match outcomes, reminding them of the nation’s cricket enthusiasts who ardently support the team’s endeavors.

In his remarks, Naqvi also outlined the PCB’s plans for infrastructural enhancements, including major venue upgrades across the country, aimed at improving facilities for players and fans alike. Additionally, the chairman shed light on the team’s preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, mentioning scheduled home and away series against New Zealand, Ireland, and England, respectively. The board plans to organize a strength and conditioning camp to ready the players for the upcoming international cricket season, culminating in the T20 World Cup in the USA.

The meeting underscored the PCB’s strategic efforts to uplift Pakistan’s cricketing standards through investment in talent development and infrastructural advancements, setting a clear path for the players as they gear up for significant challenges ahead.

Karachi, The Zone-II Whites have advanced to the semi-finals of the Karachi Region Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament, following a decisive victory in their latest match. This development comes as the tournament, organized by the Regional Cricket Association Karachi, heats up with teams vying for the top spot. In the group stages, both Zone-IV Whites and Zone-VII Whites showcased strong performances, each winning five matches and securing ten points. However, due to a superior net run rate, Zone-IV Whites edged into the semi-finals from Group “C”.



According to Regional Cricket Association Karachi, in a pivotal match, Zone-VII Whites were all out for 256 runs in 43.3 overs, with notable performances by Syed Mehmood Shah and Hamza Ghanchi. Zone-IV Whites achieved a chase of 251 runs for the loss of five wickets in 43.2 overs, highlighted by strong batting from Ejaz Shah and Muhammad Waqas.



In another match at the TMC Ground, Zone-V Blues overcame Zone-VI Reds, securing a win by three wickets. Zone-VI Reds set a target of 214 runs, which Zone-V Blues successfully chased down, thanks to an impressive innings by Zohaib Abid and Muhammad Asif.



The third match at the KCCA Stadium saw Zone-II Whites outplaying Zone-V Whites by 64 runs, with Usama Butt and Shah Raza delivering outstanding centuries for their respective teams. Usama Butt’s knock of 105 runs for Zone-II Whites and Shah Raza’s 129 runs for Zone-V Whites were the highlights of the match, showcasing the high level of competition and talent in the tournament.
