Lahore, The University of Education, Lahore, commenced its two-day International Conference on “Recent Advances in Computer Science and Information Technology” at the main campus in Township on March 5, 2024. The conference has attracted leading IT experts from 10 countries, including the USA, Japan, Malaysia, and Nigeria, and will feature presentations of 120 research papers by both national and international researchers.
According to University of Education – Lahore, the opening ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Rauf Azam, Vice Chancellor of Punjab University of Technology Rasool, Mandi Bahauddin, who served as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Abrar Hussain, Director of the Division of Science and Technology.
In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Rauf Azam emphasized the revolutionary impact of computer science and information technology on modern society, attributing the development of advanced countries to the rapid growth of this sector. He noted that Pakistan must leverage advancements in IT to address its economic challenges and called for a modernization of curricula focusing on education and training in emerging fields such as data science and artificial intelligence.
The Director of the Division of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Abrar Hussain, reflected on the transformative effect of computer science and IT on people’s ways of thinking and economic prosperity. He remarked on the advent of the digital era, which has brought about global changes, revolutionizing industries and lifestyles.
The conference aims to discuss critical areas such as artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, computer vision, data science, information security, and image processing. It serves as a collaborative platform for scholars to exchange ideas and apply these insights to propel Pakistan forward in the digital age.
