Punjab University Hosts Successful Close of 9th Invention to Innovation Summit

Lahore, The Punjab University Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) recently concluded the two-day 9th Invention to Innovation Summit at Al Raazi Hall. The event was graced by notable personalities including PU VC Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Rector University of Lahore Prof Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Director ORIC Prof Dr. Shakil Ahmed, alongside a vibrant gathering of researchers, industry experts, faculty members, and students. The summit aimed to foster a collaborative environment between academia and industry, showcasing groundbreaking ideas and research outcomes.

According to University of The Punjab, the closing ceremony highlighted the summit’s achievements in creating a platform for dialogue and exchange among participants. Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood praised the initiative for its role in enhancing the educational experience for students, researchers, and industrialists by making them beneficiaries of the knowledge and innovations shared. Prof Dr. Muhammad Ashraf underscored the importance of strong academia-industry linkages, a sentiment echoed throughout the event’s proceedings.

Dr. Shakil Ahmed, reflecting on the summit’s success, noted that 56 innovative ideas were selected for exhibition, with presentations and interactive sessions enriching the event’s agenda. The summit, he said, successfully bridged the gap between academic research and industrial application, aligning with national needs and demands. This initiative aligns with the Vice Chancellor’s vision of leveraging indigenous solutions to tackle Pakistan’s financial and technical challenges.

The event also included awards and recognitions, with shields and certificates presented to the winners and runners-up in categories such as best ideas for poster and oral presentations, as well as exhibition stalls. Additionally, the organizers and participants of the oral and poster presentations were acknowledged for their contributions, underscoring the summit’s role in promoting research and innovation within the university community.
