Lahore, The Society of Food and Nutritional Awareness (SFNA) at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, New Campus, successfully organized its first Food Gala 1.O on December 19th. The event, designed to enhance student engagement in extracurricular activities and product development, featured a series of competitions including product development, speeches, arm wrestling, badminton, and a poster competition focused on food wastage awareness.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the Food Gala aimed to provide a creative outlet for students to apply their academic knowledge in practical settings while promoting innovation in food technology. The product development competition challenged participants to create food products that were not only innovative but also nutritionally valuable. Entries showcased a wide array of creativity, ranging from edible spoons and citrus confectionery to chickpea cookies and special tea-infused carrot fries.
The event also offered a platform for students to demonstrate their oratory skills in both English and Urdu, alongside showcasing their athletic abilities through arm wrestling and badminton matches. The poster competition further engaged students in artistic expression, emphasizing the critical issue of food wastage.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Imran, Campus Coordinator at UET Lahore New Campus KSK, praised the students and faculty for their active participation and commended the organizational efforts of society advisor Ms. Zoufishan Latif and Prof. Dr. Sikander Rafiq, Chairman of the Department of Food Engineering and Biotechnology.
