Murree Hosts Vibrant Painting Competition to Foster Young Talent

Murree, The Punjab Arts Council, under the guidance of Executive Director Syed Bilal Haider, recently held a painting competition in Murree as part of its ongoing efforts to nurture young talent across district, division, and provincial levels. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the youth, who used the canvas to eloquently express their thoughts and emotions through color. Captain Retired Abdul Wahab Khan, Assistant Commissioner Murree, graced the competition as the Chief Guest, lauding the initiative for its role in promoting artistic expression among young artists.

According to Punjab Arts Council, the competition aimed at providing a platform for young painters to showcase their creativity and skill, thereby enhancing their confidence and dedication towards art. The Chief Guest, Captain Retired Abdul Wahab Khan, praised the efforts of the Punjab Arts Council, emphasizing that painting, like writing, is a powerful medium of expression that conveys the nuances of reality through the canvas. He highlighted the importance of art in reflecting and strengthening the foundations of civilization, society, and regional identity.

Deputy Director of Punjab Arts Council Rawalpindi, Muhammad Shakur, echoed the sentiment, stating that such competitions play a crucial role in boosting the self-esteem of the youth and motivating them to excel. The Punjab Arts Council has committed to continuing its support for young artists by organizing similar events, thus enabling them to project a positive image through their artworks.

The competition was adjudicated by a panel of esteemed judges, including Ahmed Habib, Saima Amir, and Zarar Haider Babri. The winners were rewarded for their exceptional talent, with Iman Bibi securing the first position and a prize of PKR 15,000, Wajiha Raja clinching the second place with PKR 10,000, and Shanze Nooreen earning the third spot along with PKR 5,000. The event not only celebrated the artistic achievements of the participants but also underscored the vibrant potential of Pakistan’s youth in the realm of visual arts.
