Test Cricketers Enroll in Coaching Course in Multan

Lahore, Three former Test cricketers, Aamer Malik, Naved Latif, and Saleem Elahi, are set to enhance their cricketing careers by participating in a Level-1 coaching course starting February 27 at the Inzamam-ul-Haq High-Performance Centre in Multan. They join a diverse group of 32 participants in a four-day program aimed at developing foundational coaching skills. The course, concluding on March 1, marks a significant effort by the Pakistan Cricket Board to nurture coaching talent across the country.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the course will be delivered by ICC-approved tutors, including Hafiz Sajjad Akbar, Imran Abbas, Kamran Hussain, and Rahat Abbas. The curriculum covers essential coaching competencies such as communication, philosophy, planning, and preparation. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the National Cricket Academy’s Coach Education Department, led by former Test cricketer Shahid Mahboob, to standardize and elevate the level of cricket coaching in Pakistan. This course in Multan is the fourth such program this year, following successful iterations in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Karachi from January 8 to 22.

Participants will have three months post-course to complete their assignments, after which successful candidates will receive Level 1 coaching certificates. This certification process aims to expand the pool of qualified cricket coaches, thereby contributing to the sport’s development at all levels within the country.

The roster of attendees includes a mix of former international players and aspiring coaches, signifying a rich exchange of experiences and knowledge. The inclusion of Test cricketers Aamer Malik, Naved Latif, and Saleem Elahi underscores the importance of continued education and development in the post-playing careers of athletes, offering them pathways to contribute to cricket beyond their playing days.
