HEC Hosts Pakistan Universities Debating Competition in Lahore

Lahore, The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has successfully organized the regional round of the Pakistan Universities Debating Competition, held at the Khorana Auditorium of Punjab University Institute of Chemistry. The event saw the participation of students from 48 universities across the nation, showcasing their oratory prowess in both Urdu and English declamation contests.

According to University of The Punjab, the University of Sargodha clinched the first position in the Urdu declamation contest, followed by the University of Child Health Sciences in second place, and Punjab University itself securing the third position. In the English debates, King Edward Medical College Lahore emerged victorious, claiming the first position, with the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design and Government College University Lahore taking the second and third places, respectively.

The event was attended by notable personalities including Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood, HEC’s Regional Director Ghafoor Ahmed, Director PU Directorate of Students Affairs Dr. Muhammad Ali Klasra, along with faculty members and a large number of students. Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood, in his address, commended the HEC for the successful organization of the competitions, highlighting the importance of such activities in uncovering and improving the hidden abilities of students. He assured that Punjab University would continue to play a pivotal role in enhancing students’ skills alongside their education.

HEC Director Ghafoor Ahmed, in his congratulatory message to the successful students, emphasized the necessity of fostering constructive and critical thinking among students to propel the country forward. He assured that the HEC would persist in organizing such events to refine the skills of university students, providing them with platforms to express and debate on various national and international issues.
