Karachi, The Aga Khan University (AKU) has entered into a partnership with the Kilifi County Government through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering research and training efforts. The collaboration seeks to align development activities, research programs, and enhance healthcare service delivery in Kilifi County.
According to The Aga Khan University, the MoU establishes a framework for academic and clinical cooperation that is expected to boost research capabilities and educational offerings, benefiting the communities served by both institutions. Kilifi County Governor, Hon Gideon Mung’aro, recognized the enduring relationship between AKU and Kilifi County, which has historically yielded community benefits across a spectrum of sectors.
The agreement outlines a comprehensive collaboration plan, including placements for learners, joint research endeavors, and shared training programs, all underscored by a commitment to ethical standards and professional integrity. Prof Salim Virani from AKU emphasized the significance of the partnership in creating sustainable local solutions and addressing the gap in applying research to practice.
A dedicated MoU Implementation Committee, representing both AKU and the Kilifi County Government, will oversee the implementation of the agreement, ensuring ongoing progress and effectiveness of the joint initiatives.
