UET Lahore Champions Student Leadership Skills at National Summit

Lahore, The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore hosted the National Summit on Student Leadership, gathering student delegates from several prominent universities to engage in a comprehensive dialogue and training session on leadership development. Held on January 31, 2024, in Masood Hall of the Electrical Engineering Department, the summit was directed by Prof. Dr. Asif Ali Qaiser, Director of Students Affairs UET, who served as the lead trainer.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the summit commenced with Prof. Qaiser underscoring the significance of developing leadership capabilities in students through various social activities and collaborative projects. Participants engaged in a Strengths Finder Assessment and completed a Leadership Practices Inventory Survey, which served as a basis for reflection and development during the workshop.

Prof. Qaiser led a three-hour session, focusing on the challenges of student leadership and introducing Five Best Practices of Student Leadership, which include Modeling the Way, Inspiring a Shared Vision, Challenging the Process, Encouraging Others to Act, and Encouraging the Heart. The interactive workshop was designed to provide experiential learning through reflective leadership activities.

A panel discussion also took place, featuring representatives from various universities who shared their experiences and strategies for fostering leadership skills on their campuses. The event concluded with Prof. Qaiser expressing gratitude to the participants and emphasizing the importance of integrating objectivity and reflection into student-led activities for enhanced experiential learning.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, Dean of Electrical Engineering at UET Lahore, concluded the summit by distributing certificates to the student delegates, marking the summit’s success in advancing student leadership education.
