HBL PSL International Media Rights Surge by 41 Percent

Lahore, The Pakistan Super League (HBL PSL) has seen a significant uptick in its international media rights value, with TransGroup FZE securing the rights for the tournament’s ninth and tenth editions. This acquisition marks a 41 percent increase compared to the values from previous years, underscoring the growing global appeal of the T20 league.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the bidding process attracted a total of six contenders, including prominent entities such as ARY Communications/Myco, IMC (also known as GEO), SuperSport, Willow TV (Times Internet), and Flow Sports. TransGroup FZE emerged victorious, clinching the global media rights for all regions outside Pakistan, encompassing both TV broadcast and live streaming services.

This year’s bidding process noted a departure from past practices, with the international rights for the HBL Pakistan Super League being sold separately from the FTP (Future Tours Programme), highlighting the league’s standalone value and appeal. Naila Bhatti, the League Commissioner, expressed enthusiasm over the record-breaking sale, pointing to it as evidence of the HBL PSL’s burgeoning popularity and reach beyond Pakistani borders.

Rao Usman Hashim, COO of Trans Group, shared the company’s pride in acquiring the global rights for the upcoming editions of the HBL PSL. He emphasized TransGroup’s longstanding support for the league since its inception and its commitment to enhancing the league’s value and global reach. Hashim’s statement reflected an ambitious vision for the league’s future, focusing on strategic global promotion and maximizing commercial value.

The significant rise in the international media rights’ value not only signifies the HBL PSL’s growing stature in the world of cricket but also highlights the league’s potential as Pakistan’s premier sporting product on the global stage. With TransGroup at the helm of its international broadcasting and streaming, the HBL PSL is poised for greater exposure and success in its ninth and tenth seasons.
