Jamshoro, In a significant development for higher education in Sindh, the University of Sindh’s Senate held its 36th session at the Ms. Benazir Bhutto Convention Center, chaired by Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddiq Kalhoro, Sheikh Al Jamia Sindh Jamshoro. The session resulted in the approval of the budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 and the initiation of several new educational programs.
According to University of Sindh, the meeting was marked by the presence of key university officials including Pro Vice Chancellors of various campuses and the Registrar. The Senate, comprising 185 members including representatives from college education and various forums, approved the minutes of the 35th Senate session and deliberated on the upcoming meetings of the Syndicate and Academic Council.
Significant decisions included recommendations for the establishment of the Department of Eastern Medicine and Surgery, along with the approval of its 5-year program. Additionally, the Senate granted permission to commence 5-year programs in LLB and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at the main campus in Jamshoro. The session also reviewed follow-up actions taken in response to resolutions passed during the 35th session of the Senate held on November 2, 2022.
Furthermore, the annual report for the fiscal year 2022-23 was approved during the meeting. In a subsequent event, Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Siddiq Kalhoro inaugurated a state-of-the-art video conference room at the Ms. Benazir Bhutto Convention Center, a project under the Higher Education Commission Islamabad.
The session reflects the University of Sindh’s commitment to enhancing its academic offerings and infrastructure, ensuring the continuous development of higher education in the region.
