Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Honors Late Journalist Syeda Naqvi

KARACHI, The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, in partnership with the Students Welfare Organization, hosted a memorial gathering at Gul Rang Hall to honor the life and contributions of the late Syeda Naqvi, a renowned journalist, broadcaster, and social activist.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the event was attended by notable figures, including Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed, Dr. Qaiser Sajjad, Bashir Sadozai, Shakeel Khan, Tariq Rahmani, and others. They shared their memories and perspectives of Syeda Naqvi, highlighting her character, work, and impact on society. Aneeq Ahmed shared his personal experiences with Syeda Naqvi, noting her gentle demeanor and her refusal to engage in negotiations or complaints. He emphasized her approach of advancing through hard work and dedication, rather than pushing others aside.

Dr. Qaiser Sajjad spoke about the significant loss of Syeda Naqvi’s departure, describing her as a role model and a compassionate individual. Shakeel Khan recounted his few but meaningful interactions with her, noting her active contribution to society and the importance of emulating her approach to connecting with people.

Bashir Sadozai, overcome with emotion, expressed his support for Syeda Naqvi’s children. Tariq Rahmani reflected on their 40-year relationship, cherishing the honorary status of a brother that Syeda had bestowed upon him. He recalled her last words, “O Allah, show me a miracle.”

Syeda Naqvi’s daughter, Maryam, shared her feelings of attending the Arts Council for the first time without her mother. She spoke about the love and respect her mother garnered and expressed pride in Syeda’s selfless and compassionate nature, always putting others’ concerns before her own.

The event also saw international participation, with Sarwar Chaghatai from Canada and Rafiq Dawood from South Africa joining via telephonic conversations. Raheela Firdous performed the duties of moderator.

The gathering was not only a tribute to Syeda Naqvi’s legacy but also a reflection of the impact she had on her colleagues, family, and community. Her life’s work and dedication to journalism, broadcasting, and social activism were remembered and celebrated by those in attendance.
