University of Haripur Conducts Training on Rights for the Disabled and Information Access

HARIPUR, In a significant educational initiative, the University of Haripur recently hosted a training session dedicated to enhancing knowledge about the Right to Information (RTI) and the rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The session, organized by the university in collaboration with various advocacy groups, aimed to promote awareness and understanding among students about these critical rights.

According to The University of Haripur, the training was a collaborative effort with the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) and Individual land, an organization committed to creating spaces for individuals. The session was spearheaded by the Provost’s office and attended by 60 students. The primary objective was to educate and raise awareness among students about RTI and PWDs rights, preparing them for a subsequent session in February where they will receive training certificates to conduct further training.

The event was graced by distinguished participants, including Mr. Riaz Muhammad, the Provost, Mr. Saqib Awan, Assistant Provost, and representatives from CPDI and Individual land. Mr. Noor Alam from CPDI, Mr. Zahid Abdullah, RTI Advisor at CPDI, Mr. Adnan, Field Coordinator at Individual land, Ms. Humaira Sardar, Field District Coordinator at Individual land, and Muhammad Afsar, Focal Person at WAJ, were among the key speakers.

The expertise of the speakers provided valuable insights into the importance of RTI and the unique challenges faced by Persons with Disabilities. The session was designed to be interactive, encouraging active participation from the students. This approach fostered an environment conducive to learning and collaboration, enabling students to engage deeply with the subject matter.
