UVAS Launches Intensive Boot Camp for Veterinary Professionals in Lahore


Lahore, The Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has commenced a month-long “Boot Camp for Veterinary Professionals” aimed at enhancing their clinical skills.



According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the boot camp was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed. The event was attended by Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Retired Prof Dr Abdul Aleem Bhatti, Training Coordinator Prof Dr Muhammad Ijaz, along with 20 veterinary experts, professionals, clinicians, students, and faculty members.



During the inauguration ceremony, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed emphasized the critical role of veterinary professionals in contemporary times and encouraged them to stay updated with the latest veterinary practices for animal treatment. Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf highlighted the need for personality grooming among veterinary professionals.



The training program is designed to provide intensive hands-on training on various aspects of veterinary medicine. It covers clinical examination and procedures in areas such as medicine, surgery, theriogenology, and companion animal practices. Participants will receive practical training under the mentorship of renowned national and international clinicians, focusing on necropsy and clinical pathology, radiology and ultrasonography, surgery and anesthesia.



The boot camp will also cover a wide range of topics, including general and clinical examination of equines and bovines, blood sampling, drug administration routes, stomach tube passing in food animals, mastitis test for bovines, assessment of pregnant and non-pregnant cows, regional anesthesia, lameness examination in farm animals, nerve blocking for surgical procedures, dentition and dental problems of dogs and cats, monitoring anesthesia and vitals on cardiac monitors, spaying procedure demonstration, nervous system examination, radiography, ultrasonography, and major diseases of dogs and cats.
