Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal Join Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team as Bowling Coaches

Lahore, Former Pakistan cricketers Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal have been appointed as the Fast Bowling and Spin Bowling Coaches, respectively, for the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team. The duo, known for their significant contributions in the 2009 T20 World Cup and 2012 Asia Cup victories, will commence their coaching roles in the upcoming Test series against Australia and the T20I series against New Zealand.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Umar Gul, who previously served as the bowling coach for the Pakistan Men’s Team in T20I series against Afghanistan and New Zealand, will now extend his expertise to the fast bowling department. With a rich playing career and coaching experience, including a stint with the HBL PSL franchise Quetta Gladiators and Afghanistan’s team in the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2022, Gul is set to bring his knowledge to elevate Pakistan’s fast bowling performance.

Saeed Ajmal, the former world no. 1 ODI bowler, will take charge of the spin bowling department. With a distinguished international career, Ajmal represented Pakistan in various formats, securing 447 wickets. His previous coaching experience includes working with the HBL PSL franchise Islamabad United.

Umar Gul expressed his pleasure at joining the team as a bowling coach, acknowledging the opportunity provided by Chairman PCB Management Committee Mr. Zaka Ashraf. Gul aims to utilize his coaching expertise to further enhance Pakistan’s bowling capabilities.

Saeed Ajmal, also expressing gratitude for the opportunity, is eager to contribute to developing spin bowling talent within the national team. He believes his extensive career and coaching experience will significantly benefit the team’s spin bowling department.

Their appointments mark a strategic move by the Pakistan Cricket Board to integrate the expertise of former players into the national team’s coaching structure, with the aim of leveraging their experience for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
