Increase in Number of Police Stations in Pakistan Observed Over Nine Years

ISLAMABAD, A recent analysis has unveiled a rise of 10.8% in the count of police stations in Pakistan from 2011 to 2020. This growth is broken down further by province and division, with varying rates of increase in different areas of the country.

According to a news release by Gallup Pakistan, as part of its Big Data Analysis initiative, the study has reviewed the quantity of police stations by province and division. This assessment is encompassed in a series named ‘Pakistan Social Indicators,’ presented by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The cited data has been extracted from the Pakistan Social Indicators 2021.

The key findings of the study are as follows:

Overall Increase: The total number of police stations across Pakistan grew by 10.8% over the nine-year period, rising from 1,556 in 2011 to 1,724 in 2020.

Punjab: The province of Punjab witnessed a 5.41% increase in its police stations, going from 683 in 2011 to 720 in 2020.

KP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa): KP observed a 17.85% ascent in the number of its police stations, which expanded from 252 in 2011 to 297 in 2020.

Balochistan: The period between 2011 and 2020 saw a significant 27.45% rise in police stations in Balochistan, climbing from 102 to 130.

Sindh: In Sindh, there was a 10.56% growth in police stations, with the number escalating from 502 in 2011 to 555 in 2020.

Federal Capital Area: This region also experienced growth, with a 29.4% upsurge in its police stations, moving from 17 in 2011 to 22 in 2020.
