Lahore, 17 Oct 2023:An international standard swimming pool has been officially unveiled at Government College University (GCU) on Tuesday by Wahab Riaz, Adviser to the Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs. The inauguration was also attended by notable personalities including GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Asghar Zaidi, Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hasan, Deputy Director Rauf Bajwa, and Project Director PMU Sports Board Punjab Qaiser Raza. Wahab Riaz expressed his delight on the successful completion of the swimming pool project, which was undertaken by the Department of Sports Punjab and amounted to Rs.15 crore, within a commendable span of 18 months. He gave credit to the team at Project Management Unit Sports Board Punjab for their excellence in project execution. Highlighting the state-of-the-art facilities of the pool, Riaz remarked that it is a boon for GCU students. Emphasizing the continuous efforts by the Punjab Sports Department in building modern sports facilities throughout the province, Riaz also mentioned other top-tier swimming pool projects in Lahore, Jhang, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rawalpindi. Furthermore, he recognized GCU’s unparalleled contribution to education and its integral role in sports promotion.
