Is AI an Emerging Threat? An Opinion by IoBM’s CTO Dr. Imran Batada

Karachi, June 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) has ushered in a new era of technological advancements, enabling remarkable progress in various fields. However, as AI continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, concerns about its potential dangers have grown significantly. In fact, some argue that AI poses a greater threat to humanity than even nuclear weapons. In this article, we will explore the reasons behind this assertion and shed light on the growing apprehensions surrounding AI’s potential risks.

One of the primary concerns with AI is its capacity to become unpredictable. While nuclear weapons operate under controlled conditions, AI systems possess the potential to learn, adapt, and evolve beyond human comprehension. As AI algorithms become more complex and sophisticated, their decision-making processes can become opaque and difficult to interpret. This unpredictability raises serious ethical and safety concerns, as it becomes challenging to ascertain and regulate the actions of advanced AI systems.
