Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari launches the ‘Share Pakistan Portal’, a digital repository for communication between Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its over 100 diplomatic missions abroad

Karachi, May 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday launched the ‘Share Pakistan Portal’, a digital repository for an improved targeted communication between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its over 100 diplomatic missions abroad. In his remarks on the launch event in collaboration with National Information Technology Board (NITB), the foreign minister said the online standardized information system would collect and communicate the impact of public diplomacy initiatives in pursuance of Pakistani foreign policy objectives.

Bilawal mentioned that he had initiated the ‘Foreign Minister’s Change Management Initiative’ as a commitment to improving the ministry’s ability to effectively deliver on its mandates through managements reforms. To materialize this, he said, the team of experts from MoFA and missions abroad brainstormed on a number of reforms in the diverse areas including human resources, finance, logistics, communication, counsellor, protocol and community services for digitalization and simplifying the rules, policies and procedures.

He said his ‘Change Management Initiative’ would be aimed at building a culture of work that is focused more on results and enhanced productivity, value innovation, and bringing decision making closer to the point of delivery. He said the comprehensive report on ‘Change Management Initiative’ would further address and transform the diplomatic service that will be better equipped to respond to the new realities and challenges of the modern world. He said the ‘Change Management Initiative’ would ensure a seamless communication between the ministry and the country’s diplomatic missions abroad.

Bilawal said the portal was designed to simplify communication and sharing of information both horizontally and vertically in the public diplomacy domain between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic posts abroad. He said the portal would bring efficiency and transparency in various public diplomacy initiatives. The foreign minister said the paperless digital tool was the first portal launch covering the integration of digital technologies in both the public diplomacy strategic outreach efforts and institution.

“It will be used in diplomacy for outreach decision support, drafting strategic communication, translating foreign policy, and analysis of latest trends,” he said. Bilawal expressed confidence that the digital tool would serve as a model for future projects for useful and effective communication between the ministry and its missions. He hoped that the portal would be the first step to simplification of communication systems and IT based solutions in the engagement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with other government departments and facilitate inter-department coordination.

He expressed gratitude to the support of NITB and the Ministry of Information Technology for partnering with Mofa in developing the portal so that the public diplomacy activities have greater visibility and achieve desired foreign policy goals. He also congratulated the Spokesperson’s office and the Strategic Commutations team on the successful launch of the portal. The country’s high commissioners and ambassadors joined the launch event through video-link.

Sindh Human Rights Department arranges a seminar, in connection with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of 1973 Constitution –

Karachi, May 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): The participants of the seminar organized by the Human Rights Department of the Government of Sindh have termed the full implementation of the 1973 Constitution as the only course of action to solve all the problems faced by Pakistan and demanded the federal and provincial governments that the constitutionalism subject should be made a part of the educational curriculum to create a dynamic democracy and a balanced society.

In connection with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of 1973 Constitution, Sindh Human Rights Department organized a seminar under the banner “Fundamental Rights in 1973 Constitution” in a local hotel here on Wednesday, in which president PPP Sindh chapter Senator Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Human Rights Surendar Valasai, Secretary Sindh Human Rights Department Javed Sibghatullah Mahar, Advocate General Sindh M Hasan Akbar, Zafarullah Khan Advocate, Additional Advocate General Ms Kalpana Devi, Chairman Human Rights Commission Sindh Iqbal Detho, Former Provincial Secretary Abdul Rahim Soomro and others addressed.

Addressing the seminar, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh on Human Rights, Surendar Valasai said that Pakistan under the leadership of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, then Prime Minister of Pakistan took a momentous footstep towards providing a holistic and solid framework for consolidation of democratic process in the country and upholding fundamental rights by adopting the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. “The 1973 Constitution is a landmark document that established the basic features of federal politics, democratic governance, fiscal justice and balance of powers among institutions in the country,” adding that the 1973 Constitution guarantees all the basic human rights, which are given in the World Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on Fundamental Human Rights.

Surrender Valasai said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto struggled hard to safeguard the Constitution and its sanctity, while former President Asif Ali Zardari restored the 1973 Constitution in its original form. “PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has categorically been conveying his firm belief in the constitutionalism and upholding fundamental rights to consolidate democracy in the country and establishing true federal spirit,” he said.

Speaking at the seminar, Chief Guest and president PPP Sindh chapter Senator Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the Pakistan’s history is divided into two eras, one of which is the unconstitutional period and the other is the constitutional era. During the unconstitutional period, people were denied the right to vote and the country’s founding leaders were falsely accused and insulted. “Right from the beginning of the constitutional era, politicians showed political wisdom. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, realizing the importance of the constitution, led the process of its creation, while other leaders also joined his hands to the constitution-making process,” he said.

Senator Nisar Ahmad Khuhro said that Article 58 (2) (b) was also a violation of fundamental rights, as the dismissal of the elected government of the people by an individual is tantamount to violation of fundamental rights. He said that till now there have been two attacks on the constitution in the form of dictatorships, while many people have sacrificed for the sake of this constitution. He urged the Sindh Human Rights Department to play its role on making the constitutionalism subject a part of the educational curriculum.

Jawed Sibghatullah Mahar, the secretary to Sindh Human Rights Department, said that his department is playing the role of a bridge between all relevant institutions and stakeholders in addition to fulfilling its responsibilities regarding the promotion and protection of human rights in the province. He said that efforts are being made by his department to promote human rights in the society through awareness seminars, training workshops and other such initiatives.

Why are the rules of the judiciary that make it impossible for Imran Khan to appear in more cases for Bhutto and Zardari family? Federal Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security Faisal Karim Kundi

Karachi, May 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security Faisal Karim Kundi asked why the rules of the judiciary declaring it impossible for Imran Khan to appear in many cases are different for Bhutto and Zardari family. It is not possible for one person to appear in so many cases. It was a pleasure to hear the judges’ remarks.

He said that the behaviour of the courts was completely different for martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto. Shaheed Ms. Benazir Bhutto used to appear in the courts of Karachi on one day, on the second day in Lahore and on the third day in Pindi. For Shaheed Ms. Benazir Bhutto, no judge said that a woman should take care of her sick mother or appear in court every day. Faisal Karim Kundi said that the newspaper clipping against the martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto was considered as evidence. He said that someone should inform the judges who gave relief to Imran Khan that President Asif Ali Zardari was tried in jail.

Imran Khan’s facilitators should answer why President Asif Ali Zardari was brought to court from jail in an armoured vehicle. He said that today the courts give the date of the next hearing at the discretion of the accused and questions will be raised on the judges’ expression of happiness and good wishes for Imran Khan.

IUHS Introduces Certificate in Health Professions Education

Karachi, May 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): In the profession of health care, the need for faculty development is widely recognized to improve the productivity and performance of the faculty, students and program. Traditionally, the healthcare faculty were playing their roles as teachers based on their content expertise and experience. It was assumed that the students who were good in academics would also serve as good faculty members. With the evolution of modern learning theories, the role of a teacher has changed from a content expert to a facilitator, mentor, role model, and leader. To accomplish the desired outcome, it is necessary to develop the faculty as educators and trainers to strengthen the academic activities of healthcare institutions.

In this regard, the first ever ‘Certificate in Health Professions Education’ (CHPE) has started at Indus University of Health Sciences. This course is explicitly designed for all Allied health care professionals from different specialties to develop an understanding of basic principles of education that support them in their roles as educators and help them improve their institutions’ educational practices.

Expert Medical Educationists will conduct a 6-month-long hybrid course divided into 5 modules to address the needs of the Allied Health Sciences faculty.

The system of justice has become system of oppression: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

Lahore, May 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that the system of justice has become the system of oppression. He said we want to see how long the shadows of oppression stay intact. He said it is the verdict in the Model Town JIT case that would deliver justice but added that the case has unfortunately been subjected to the stay order for three years. He wondered as to what difficulty and twist is there in a simple and straightforward case that our intelligent, erudite and able honourable High Court judges are unable to sort out. He said it has been three years since the benches have got broken and are replaced by new benches but it is justice which is non-existent so far.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur made these remarks while talking to a delegation of Awami Lawyers Forum that called on him yesterday. He said the delay in the decision in the JIT case is benefiting the accused in the trial court and now they have started applying for acquittal in the trial court under a clever legal strategy and the lawyers of the families of the martyred are being forced to offer their arguments on the applications. He said that we are being asked to become part of the process of settling the acquittal requests of the accused by turning a blind eye to the central case.

PAT Secretary General feared if the accused get the certificates of acquittal from the trial court, the dream of justice would remain a pipedream even if the JIT is allowed to resume its stalled work, for according to law, no dual trial can be held on the same case as per the legal norm. He said it is not a coincidence and it appears that the heirs of the martyrs are being taken for a ride according to a shrewd strategy.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur reminded that the Model Town tragedy was a massacre that was broadcast live around the world where the faces of the murderers can easily be spotted. He bemoaned the fact that despite visible and clear evidence, the process of justice has remained disrupted for the past eight years. He said that the legal paths now seem to be smoothened for the accused leading to their possible acquittals. He said that we are a peaceful people and have pinned high hopes on the judiciary for the delivery of justice but it appears that justice is being killed.

PAT Secretary General prayed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the delay and get the directions of the apex court implemented in which the highest court in the land had ordered the High Court to immediately take up the pending appeals including the one related to Model Town JIT. Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate, Shakeel Mumka Advocate and complainant Jawwad Hamid were also present on the occasion.
