Lahore, October 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and former federal minister Moonis Elahi visited the residence of late DIG, Chaudhry Shafqaat Ahmad, for condolence. They offered Fateha for the departed soul and extended sympathies to the deceased’s brother Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman, Prosecutor General Punjab; sons Hamza Shafqaat, former DC Islamabad; Hasan Shafqaat, DS Prime Minister’s Office; Hashim Shafqaat, Hassam Shafqaat advocate, and Haider Shafqaat, DS Punjab assembly.

Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi prayed that Allah Almighty may rest the departed soul in peace and grant patience to the bereaved family. Principal Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti and former principal secretary GM Sikandar also accompanied the CM.

CM Ch Parvez Elahi chaired a high level meeting in which matters pertaining to the security arrangements of the long march

Lahore, October 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi presided over a high level meeting at CMO today in which matters pertaining to the security arrangements of the long march, route of the long march and deployment of police force came under review. CM directed to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the long march adding that special arrangements should be made to maintain the law and order situation on the whole route of the long march.

CM asserted to ensure implementation on the formulated security plan in letter and spirit adding that the police and the administration should not leave any stone unturned for the security of the lives and properties of the people.

He directed that all the concerned departments should ensure to maintain law and order situation under an excellent coordination mechanism adding that substitute arrangements should be made in order to maintain the smooth flow of traffic.

CM directed the coordination committee to hold their meetings on a daily basis and steps should be taken in the perspective of the situation. He directed to call for additional police force from the other cities forthwith and should be deputed on the routes. He directed to continuously monitor the long march by the drone and CCTV cameras.

CM directed to make excellent food arrangements for the personnel’s of police force being deputed on their duties adding that security arrangements should be further beefed up in the sensitive areas. CM stated the participants of the long march will be provided fool proof security adding that it is our foremost priority to maintain law and order situation in the province.

He revealed that a comprehensive security plan has been prepared for the long march adding that the security plan will be ensured to be implemented in letter and spirit and the whole route will be kept under surveillance. He directed the police, administration, law enforcement agencies and other departments to remain vigilant all the time. CM underscored that the whole police force is alert in order to foil the nefarious designs of the miscreant elements.

CM stated that Imran Khan has declared that the participants of the long march will remain peaceful adding that he is personally overseeing the law and order situation in the province. CM was giving a briefing on the security arrangements by the Inspector General of Police and the concerned police officers.

Commentary panel for Pakistan-Ireland women series announced 

Lahore, October 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Former Pakistan women’s team captain Sana Mir and former women’s international player Marina Iqbal will be joined by Ali Younis, Andrew Leonard, Sikander Bakht and Shah Faisal as commentators for the upcoming women’s series between Pakistan and Ireland.

Sana will be involved in the T20Is only to be played on 12, 14 and 16 November.

The three-match ODI series will be played from 4 to 9 November, the series is a part of the ICC Women’s Championship. All six tour matches will be played at the headquarters of Pakistan cricket, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

The PCB, will live-stream the series on its YouTube channel. The production set-up will comprise 10 HD cameras.

Marina Iqbal, who featured in four ODIs and five T20Is against Ireland, said: “It’s a very encouraging thing that international teams are coming to Pakistan. Ireland women’s team has created an impact in world cricket, and they are going to give a tough time to the home team in the T20Is.

“Every player dreams of playing in front of their home crowd, I could still remember making my debut and playing in front of the fans at home. The series will provide a great chance for players to excel and it also gives a chance to try bench strength.

“I will urge the fans to come to the stadium to support both sides.”

Renowned TV presenter, Zainab Abbas said: “It’s huge that teams are coming to Pakistan, whether it’s men or women. Ireland women’s team coming to Pakistan will encourage young boys and girls to come to the stadium and support their team.

Match officials for Pakistan-Bangladesh U19 series announced

Lahore, October 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed the match officials’ appointments for the six-match Pakistan-Bangladesh U19 series, comprising a four-dyer, three 45-over-per-side fixtures and two T20s.

Umpires Rashid Riaz, Shozab Raza and Waleed Yaqub will share the on-field and reserve umpire duties, while Prof Muhammad Javed Malik, who is a member of PCB Elite Panel of Match Referees and International Panel of ICC Match Referees, will perform the refereeing duties for all the six matches.

Meanwhile, the series, which was originally scheduled at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, has been now shifted to Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. The games will take place on the dates announced earlier i.e. four-day match from 4 to 7 November, three one-days on 10, 12 and 14 November, while two T20s on 16 and 18 November.

The change in the venue means three of the four Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches, which were scheduled at the Multan Cricket Stadium from 2-23 November, have now been shifted to the LCCA Ground in Lahore. The venue for the match between Central Punjab and Balochistan from 14-17 November will be confirmed in due course.

The three matches shifted from Multan Cricket Stadium to LCCA Ground, Lahore are:

2-5 November – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa v Central Punjab

8-11 November – Northern v Central Punjab

20-23 November – Sindh v Balochistan

Aftab Ibrahim replaces injured Mohammad Nabeel 

Lahore, October 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Nabeel has been ruled out of the Pakistan U19 series against Bangladesh U19 due to stress fracture in his back. Pakistan and Bangladesh will play a four-dyer, three 45-over-per-side fixtures and two T20s at the Multan Cricket Stadium from 4 to 18 November.

Northern’s Nabeel, who was part of the squad for a solitary four-day match will be replaced by another right-arm fast bowler Aftab Ibrahim. Aftab had represented Sindh U19 Blues in the National U19 tournaments (50-over and three-day) and had taken 24 wickets from 10 matches. The 19-year old had also represented Hyderabad Hunters in the recently concluded inaugural edition of Pakistan Junior League.
