Lecture on Latest Trends in Print Design for Local Market 

Faisalabad, October 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):A lecture on the Latest trends in Print design for the local market was arranged for BTD Final year students on 14th October 22. Mr. Ali Zeeshan from Lateef Export was the resource person. He discussed in detail how a single design changes its impact by changing the mood board of the design. Various repeats and design layouts were also discussed by showing the printed sample fabrics. Students marked the repeating units in provided samples. Students also discussed their topics, themes, and inspirations for the final year project. Learners clarified their concepts through the fruitful question and answer session at the end of the lecture.

Alumni Association Investiture Ceremony 

Sialkot, October 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):An Alumni Association Investiture Ceremony was organized by the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) on Friday, October 14, 2022, a remarkable tradition to bid farewell and honour the hard work done by UMT 2nd Alumni Association and to welcome the 3rd school wise alumni associations. Head, Office of Alumni Relations Ms Zahra Haroon welcomed the distinguished guests and highlighted the importance of alumni relations. Alumni are our ambassadors and our greatest voice; we rely on them to serve as advocates for the university, she expressed.

Rector of UMT, Dr Asif Raza congratulated the Ilmians and UMT family for being ranked by Times Higher Education as the number 1 private university in Pakistan. He stressed association members to play an active role in the university’s development and bridge the industry-academia gap. DG UMT, Prof Abid HK Shirwani praised the efforts of the 2nd alumni association and encouraged new members to serve their alma mater to the best of their abilities. The investiture ceremony was conducted where the President of the 2nd alumni association Mr Tasneem Alam presented the UMT flag to the Presidents of the 3rd school wise alumni associations.

Rector UMT took oath from the presidents and they pledged to serve the schools and the association through their time, effort and ideas to contribute to the development of graduates and alumni. To acknowledge the hard work of the 2nd alumni associations, Rector UMT honoured them by presenting souvenirs. Former presidents and new association presidents, in their remarks, showed full commitment to their newly assigned tasks. OAR congratulates all the members on their new roles and responsibilities.

Department of Psychology Held Dean and Chancellor’s Honor Roll Ceremony 

Islamabad, October 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Chancellor and Dean Honor Ceremony held on Wednesday 12 October 2022 in A2 auditorium. Dean Professor Dr. Arshad Hassan and Guest speaker Ulnas Anjum (Associate professor From Oslo Norway) Distributed the Certificate. Dean appreciated and congratulated all Students of psychology department who have achieved distinctive GPA’s and have excelled in their academic rankings. Afterward, the award of the certificate was presented to all the students. The Dean of Management Sciences also addressed the students and talked about several issues along with a few pieces of advice on improving their character-building and academic status.

Pharma Spark Society Organized Seminar on Pharmacovigilance 

Islamabad, October 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):A seminar on pharmacovigilance was held under supervision of literary club. Dr. Talib Hussain was invited as the guest speaker. Dr. Talib Hussain is highly educated and HEC Approved PhD Supervisor, Registered Pharmacist with Punjab Pharmacy Council, Pakistan. Here is the brief educational background, he had done his B. Pharmacy and M.Phil in pharmaceutics from Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan and PhD Pharmacy from Department of Pharmacy University of Huddersfield, UK.

He is highly competent Pharmacist. He served as Assistant Professor in COMSTS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus and University of Lahore (UOL). He also worked as Drug Inspector (BS-17) in Drug Control Wing. He also worked as Production Pharmacist in Selmore Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd, Pakistan. His skills and expertise include Oral drug delivery, Hot-melt solid dispersions, Hydrogel formulations, Pre-formulation, Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), SEM, DSC, TGA, XRD, Origin 8.5, Animal Studies, and Drug Regulatory Affairs.

In the seminar importance of pharmacovigilance was discussed with students of Pharmacy. As a guest speaker Dr. Talib Hussain discussed that pharmacovigilance is the science and activities relating to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other medicine/vaccine related problem and the importance of pharmacovigilance. The whole seminar were interactive and students showed their interest in the respective topic. There was a session of questions in which students asked about their queries. At the end of seminar Dr. Talib Hussain was given souvenir by Dr. Muhammad Tariq Khan Assistant Professor at Faculty of Pharmacy.

ISSI Delegation Visit to Gwadar 

Islamabad, October 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) organised a delegation visit to Gwadar from October 11-14, 2022. Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Director-General ISSI led the delegation comprising senior diplomats, businessmen, academics, and media persons. The objective of the delegation visit was to familiarise members of academia, business community, diplomats and journalists to the Gwadar port and city that is central to the success of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Visit provided delegation an opportunity to learn first-hand about the ongoing development and future plans of Gwadar port and city. During the visit, delegation received briefings from Gwadar Development Authority, Gwadar Port Authority, China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC), and armed forces representatives. Delegation interacted with local business community, district administration and local people.

Delegation also visited Gwadar University to interact with faculty and students. Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, DG ISSI, delivered a talk on ‘Regional and Global Imperatives of CPEC’ at Gwadar University. ISSI intends to follow-up on the visit with via producing a detailed report and convening events to focus on the development of Gwadar port and city. Delegation members included, Amb. Seminar on “Pakistan’s Foreign Policy in a Changing World” 

Islamabad, October 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Arms Control and Disarmament Centre (ACDC) and the Centre for China-Pakistan Study Centre (CPSC) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) in collaboration with the Institute of Policy Research Institute (IPR) organised a Seminar on “Pakistan’s Foreign Policy in a Changing World,” on October 18, 2022. Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Director General ISSI, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and delivered introductory remarks. Ambassador Asif Durrani, Senior Research Fellow, IPRI, expressed his views on the “Grand National Dialogue.”

The chief guest, former Foreign Minister and Ambassador of Pakistan, Mr Inam ul Haque, gave a detailed presentation on “Pakistan’s Foreign Policy in a Changing World.” The presentation was followed by an interactive session. Key takeaways from this seminar would be shared in a “Grand National Dialogue” being sponsored by the National Security Division (NSD) and organised by IPRI. Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman BoG ISSI, presented the ISSI momento to the chief guest and the distinguished speaker of the occasion.
