Lahore, May 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Teachers Training Academy (TTA) organized a training session on “Safety and Health in Workplace” at the University of Lahore (UOL) on May 18, 2022. More than 130 lab staff members from various departments participated in the session that was aimed at providing workers with skills and knowledge to identify hazards and how to assess the risk of managing incidents in the workplace.

Dr. Muhammad Ashraf (Rector, UOL) graced the occasion as the chief guest, and trainer Mr. Badar Munir (Manager Health, Safety and Environment – HSE) elucidated HSE’s several elements, including management commitment, hazard assessment process, safe working procedures, safety rules, training and performance tracking.

Lahore, May 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):Imperial Pharmaceutical Society (IPS) at the University of Lahore organized its 5th Oath Taking Ceremony on May 20, 2022, under the leadership of Mr. Zeeshan Akbar (Founder/Patron IPS), which aimed to awaken a sense of loyalty, determination, trustworthiness and honesty among the students.

The distinguished guests of the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Syed Nisar Hussain Shah (Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy), Dr. Kishwar Sultana (Head of Pharmacy Department), and Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal (Professor, Pharmacy Department). The Pharmacy students of the 10th semester took an oath to ensure that they would remain honest, dedicated, and committed to their profession throughout their lives. The ceremony ended with the distribution of souvenirs and certificates among the students.

Lahore, May 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) UOL Student Branch (SB) in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), the University of Lahore (UOL) organized a Seminar on “Modern Trends to Regulate the Output Frequency through Power Electronic Converters”.

Mr. Uzair Raoof (Deputy Chairman BoG, UOL) was invited as the chief guest, along with other notable guests such as Prof. Dr. Asrar ul Haq Sheikh (Pro-Rector, Engineering and Technology, UOL and IEEE Life Fellow), Mr. Dr. Ghulam Abbas (Head and Associate Professor, EE UOL), Prof. Dr. Amjad Hussain (Chair, IEEE Lahore Section), Mr. Hamza Ihtisham (SAC Chair, IEEE Lahore Section), Ms. Safoora Saleem (WIE Chair, IEEE Lahore Section), and Mr. Syed Rizwan (IAS, IEEE Lahore Section). The seminar drew more than 200 attendees, and was aimed at explicating the development of the single phase frequency controller.

Lahore, May 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):On May 16, 2022, FAHS held a Merit-Based Paid House Job and Scholarship Awarding Ceremony for its remaining departments to recognize students’ outstanding academic performance. Mr. Awais Raoof (Chairman, BoG) was the chief guest at the ceremony along with other prominent guests, which included Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf (Rector, UOL), Prof. Dr. Ibrar Hussain (Dean Engineering and Technology), Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Gilani (Dean, FAHS) and all FAHS HoDs, and faculty members.

FAHS’s decade-long achievements and future visions were highlighted during the ceremony. In addition to presenting merit scholarship certificates and paid house job approval, Mr. Raoof appreciated FAHS’ efforts and vowed his unwavering support in the future.

Lahore, May 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Lahore Section’s executive team visited the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital (ULTH) on May 18, 2022 to survey the sensor-based taps installed at several locations in the hospital by Dr. Abdul Rehman Yasin (Assist. Prof. EE UOL) and his team, who won funding for it from IEEE SIGHT. After the visit, the team had a discussion with Dr. Zahid Pervaiz (MS, ULTH) to discuss the benefits, ease of use, and safety of these systems and their future implications.

Lahore, May 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Computer Engineering, in collaboration with the Computer Engineering Society, staged an event to mark the International Girls in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day with the theme of Access and Safety, as part of SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 5 – Gender Equality, on May 19, 2022.

The event’s chief guests were Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf (Rector, UOL) and Ms. Ammara Awais (Director, OSA). Prof. Dr. Ibrar Hussain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology) briefed the audience on the emerging ICT domains at the event. Various international and national speakers also shared their thoughts during the event which was aimed at creating a more equitable environment at UOL, encouraging young female students, staff, and faculty members to pursue studies and careers in the growing field of ICT.
