Ms Fajar Rafi (BS 2020) was awarded Dr Rafia Hassan Gold medal in the 1st Convocation of Institute of Applied Psychology

Lahore, April 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ms Fajar Rafi (BS 2020) was awarded Dr Rafia Hassan Gold medal in the 1st Convocation of Institute of Applied Psychology. Prof Dr Rafia Hasan, an eminent academician in Psychology went to her heavenly abode on the 27th January 2022 (may her soul rest in peace).

Her seminal contributions to the field of Psychology in Pakistan and with special reference to her role in pioneering and extending the scope of this department (now an Institute) of Applied Psychology PU, merited that her name be carved in history. So, her daughters, Nada Hasan and Dr Naveed Henderson decided in what better way to remember her than by giving out a gold medal of excellence in her name to the IAP BSc Program, so that each coming year students could aspire to build a name for themselves by following the path of Dr Rafia Hasan.

Islamabad High Court’s decision to declare PECA amendment ordinance unconstitutional is the victory of the constitution: Shazia Atta Marri 

Islamabad, April 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Peoples Party has expressed pleasure and welcomed the decision of Islamabad High Court’s to null and void the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) amendment ordinance. Central Information Secretary of PPP-P and member of the National Assembly Shazia Atta Marri has said that Pakistan Peoples Party has warmly welcomed and expressed its pleasure on the Islamabad High Court’s decision to declare Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act amendment ordinance unconstitutional and she termed it, the victory of the constitution of Pakistan. This she expressed in a statement issued hereon today.

Shazia Marri said that we congratulate the entire nation and the journalists community of the country over this constitutional victory. Islamabad Court’s decision regarding the rejection of PECA ordinance is immense pleasurable to all of us because selected Imran Khan Niazi wanted to snatch the freedom of the expression of the common man like the dictators of the past. Ms Marri said that Pakistan Peoples Party had already rejected draconian black law of PECA, today, Islamabad High Court has taken a constitutional step by declaring the PECA amendment ordinance as unconstitutional move. She added that Imran Khan’s government has turned the President House into center of conspiracies.

Balochistan Assembly demands ECP to postpone local government elections 

Islamabad, April 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Provincial Assembly of Balochistan adopted a resolution on Friday demanding the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone the local bodies’ elections in the province for six months, says Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet.

Following are key observations of the House proceedings during the first sitting of 52nd session:

Members’ Participation

The House met for two hours and 30 minutes.

The sitting started at 03:50 pm against the scheduled time of 03:00 pm.

The deputy speaker presided over the entire proceedings in the absence of speaker.

The leader of the house (chief minister) was not present.

The leader of the opposition attended the entire sitting.

As many as 15 (23 percent) legislators were present at the start and 23 (35 percent) at the end of the sitting.

The parliamentary leaders of MMAP, BNP-A, BAP, ANP, JWP, PNP and HDP attended the sitting.

All three minority members were present.

Output

Jointly sponsored by BNP-A and BAP lawmakers, the House adopted a resolution demanding the ECP to postpone the local bodies’ elections in the province for six months and complete the process of delimitation of constituencies. On March 29, the ECP announced to hold local bodies elections in Balochistan on May 29, 2022 except in Quetta and Lasbella.

The Chair deferred a resolution due to the absence of mover which was regarding induction of local candidates in nursing departments.

Tabled by a lawmaker belonging to BNP-M, the House rejected a resolution with majority vote which was about increase in share of Balochistan from 25 percent to 50 percent in Reko Diq Project. Fifteen lawmakers voted in favour of resolution while 21 legislators opposed it.

Representation and Responsiveness

The House did not observe question hour due to absence of relevant ministers.

Order and Institutionalization

Eleven lawmakers spoke on points of order for 55 minutes which were related to verdict of apex court on ruling of deputy speaker National Assembly.

The House was adjourned to meet again on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 01:00 pm.

Transparency

‘List of Business’ was available to the legislators, observers and others.

The attendance of lawmakers was available to the observers and media.

Pakistan Day 2022 

Lahore, April 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Lahore School of Economics celebrated Pakistan Day on 23 March 2022 with traditional zeal and zest. Dr Shahid Amjad Chaudhry, the Rector Lahore School was the chief guest on the occasion. This year, children of the Lahore School faculty and staff were also invited. Special activities and games were arranged for them. They added colours in festivities of the day. The Rector invited a guest child to cut Pakistan Day Special Cake. Pakistan Flag raising ceremony was held at Shumaila Garden. Dr Azam Chaudhry, the Pro Rector and Dean of Economics hoisted the national flag.

Final Exams of Certificate Courses, Associate Degree, BS and B.Ed. Programs, Autumn 2021

Islamabad, April 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Final Exams of ODL Phase-II programs will be starting with effect from 25th April, 2022. Date Sheet is uploaded at the website of the University.

Admit Cards (Roll # Slips) are also uploaded in the CMS account of concerned students for information/downloading/printing.

If a student face any difficulty to access their CMS Enrollment account (Exam and Grades – Exam Schedule – Search – Download Roll No. Slip) is directed to approach concerned AIOU Regional Office for help.

Printing and dispatch of Admit Cards are in progress (as on 8th April, 2022).

Instructions for Reappear Courses/Missing Profile:

Reappear courses are also added in Admit Cards, however in case of missing any reappear course in the Admit Card, concerned student is directed to visit Results Section, Block # 03, AIOU Main Campus for addition/updation in Admit Card. OR

If someone is unable to reach Main Campus for addition the missing reappear course, should visit concerned Regional Office for addition/updation (hard copy/print of last result intimation (Spring 2021) showing reappear (RE) is mandatory for addition/amendment in Admit Card).
