Block Chain Seminar 

Lahore, February 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Central Punjab organized an international seminar for its faculty and students on Block Chain Technologies in collaboration with WorldCall Telecom Ltd, World Mobile Group (WMG) from United Kingdom and Immunity Life from Australia.

In his inaugural address, UCP Pro Rector, Dr Nassar Ikram thanked WorldCall Telecom and WMG for sponsoring the initiative for capacity building of UCP faculty and students in Block Chain technologies and emphasized that it was really important to adopt new technologies for the betterment of national economy and flourishing business using digital technologies. He also appreciated the commitment of all the panelist for delivering this seminar despite the time zone differences.

Leading the panel discussions, Mr Babar Ali Syed, Chief Executive of WorldCall Telecom and a veteran of Pakistan Telecom industry shared his insights on how this technology would bring about revolutionary changes. He also shared some statistics from around the world to signify how this technology is impacting while being adopted.

Mr Charles Barnett from World Mobile Group gave introduction of the organization and shared about various projects that they are delivering in improving the digital connectivity all over the world using Block Chain and other digital technologies. Mr Guy Newing, Chief Executive of Immunity Life Australia shared the transformation journey of healthcare system that has been secured using Block Chain Technologies.

Mr Zaid Munir, Assistant Professor from UCP Faculty of IT talked about the development of applications that would eventually result in benefiting the businesses in the digital paradigm using Block Chain. Panel also answered the questions from the audience. Mr Zubair Anwar, Head Centre for Professional Excellence hosted and moderated the seminar.

Besides online international delegates, Directors, CTO, CFO, CIO and other officials from World Call attended this seminar. Provost, Deans, Directors, HODs, senior members from Faculty of Management Sciences, Information Technology, Law and students from UCP also participated.

Project Topi-Clothes Donation Drive 

Swabi, February 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Project Topi is GIK’s premier welfare society and also the sole welfare society. Project Topi helps deserving people inside and outside GIK in various cases. One such way is the clothes donation drive. Clothes Donation Drive is a successful and impactful module of Project Topi that is aimed to provide clothes to well-deserved lower staff here at GIK Institute in the bone-chilling winters we have here in Topi.

In this regard a door-to-door campaigns was conducted on December 8 2021 in all hostels gathering unused, no longer needed clothes by the students, which are then sanitized, and cleansed through a laundry process. The Clothes Donation drive was conducted by Project Topi on December 21 2021, the clothes were then displayed in mess dining halls and distributed to the needy people.

NTU New Student’s Societies Registration-PLLs Chapter by HEC 

Faisalabad, February 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):NTU student societies are envisioned to help students in develop interpersonal and professional skills. Broadly, Practical Learning Labs (PLLs) project by HEC also endorsed the benefits to students. Following the same endorsement of PPLs, Advisor Student Office developed an online system of society’s membership registration.

All NTU societies were taking open registration on November 25, 2021 to show its best to new comers. Dr Zafar Javed (Director SOAD) and Mr Waqar Ahmed (Director Sports) inaugurated and visited each society information desk. Both of them encouraged the effort of student’s society’s members.

Kashmiri Lives Matters – Solidarity Day 

Faisalabad, February 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):NTU expresses ‘tried and true’ support for Kashmiris. The three-day celebrations of Solidarity activities which includes Kashmir culture display, essay writing and dua for martyrs of Kashmir were organised by the members of NTU Arts and Culture Society.

A solidarity walk was arranged on campus whereas students and officials were carrying placards and banners on which slogans demonstrating solidarity with the people of Kashmir. Emphasised atrocities upon Kashmiri people and demanded from the world to play an active part to resolve and to stand by Kashmiri brethren and sisters against illegal Indian oppression by extending all political, moral and diplomatic support.

1st Meeting of GCF-Textiles (KnowTex) Advisory Committee 

Faisalabad, February 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):1st meeting of the GCF-Textiles (KnowTex) Advisory Committee was conducted on February 02, 2022, under the convenorship of Rector NTU, Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain, to review the progress of GCF and to advise the consortium about future developments. Dr. Yasir Nawab (PI) gave a comprehensive presentation on the status of the project against KPIs of the first year.

The advisory committee appreciated the current progress of the project. Besides NTU members, the meeting was attended by Mr. Mujeeb Ullah Khan (CEO, iTextiles), Mr. Nabeel Abdullah (Director, Sapphire Textiles), Mr. Anees Khawaja (Director, Mahmood Group), Dr. Asad Sayeed (Director, Collective for Science), and Prof. Dr. Tahir Hussain Shah (UK).

Department of English holds a Certificate Distribution Ceremony 

Islamabad, February 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of English organized a Certificate Distribution Ceremony on February 04, 2022 to appreciate the students who participated in various departmental and interdepartmental competitions. Certificates were distributed among the participants of Poetry Recitation Competition and various interdepartmental male and female sports events including Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Table Tennis and Basketball. Dr. Umar Farooq, Head, Department of English, praised the participants and encouraged them to show their participation in the future events as well.
